On View Art Gallery’s invitation, the American artist Lisa Ross conducted her residence art creation in Lanzhou from July 1 to July 12, 2018. On July 13 she held her work sharing meeting in View Art Gallery.
Lisa Ross is a photographer, a video artist and an educator, who now lives in NY. Her work Pilgrimage on the Silk Road, curated by the famous curator Cheng Guoqin, was on display in the Second Tianshui Photography Biennale Invitational Exhibition on June 18, 2018.
Her works are related to an extreme space where faith, culture and abstraction encounter. Her immersive landscapes and early black and white works explore the surface of the land. In this process, she reveals the texture of culture, and also reveals the political reality inextricably bound with the place. At the same time, her portraits attempt to capture intimacy and touch upon issues of identity, gender and belonging.
Her numerous photographs and videos have been exhibited internationally, and referring to the specific styles of land artists like Andy Goldsworthy. She has evoked the presence and amazing power of the landscape. The series was published by Monaselli Press and published internationally by Langdon Bookstore.
